Who Benefits from Wound Care?

Wounds can happen in many ways, and many factors can affect your body’s ability to heal properly. Poor nutrition, vitamin deficiency, existing diseases, age and certain medications can all interfere with healing. We take a holistic perspective to get a complete picture of your health status and underlying issues.

Types of Wound Conditions We Treat

We care for patients with all types of wounds and conditions, including:

  • Arterial insufficiency (reduced blood flow through arteries)
  • Burns
  • Chronic venous insufficiency (reduced blood flow through veins)
  • Diabetes, which can impair circulation and delay wound healing
  • Infected surgical sites
  • Neuropathy (damage to motor or sensory nerves)
  • Pressure wounds
  • Skin disorders
  • Traumatic wounds from injury

Wound Care Treatments We Offer

Once your doctor identifies the cause of your wound and any contributing factors, you’ll get a care plan designed just for you. This plan takes your medical condition, nutrition and functional abilities into account. Your provider will also listen to your unique needs and goals to create treatments that work best for you.

Your individualized treatment plan may include:

  • Advanced wound dressings – Your provider may use special biological materials and technologies to cover and clean wounds.
  • Compression therapy – Bandages and special garments put pressure on a particular area and improve circulation.
  • Electrical stimulation – Small, carefully controlled doses of electrical currents stimulate wound healing.
  • Footwear evaluation – Your provider helps relieve pressure or friction from foot deformities.
  • Hydrotherapy – Hydrotherapy uses water to clean and treat wounds.
  • Pulsed lavage – Pulsed lavage uses a pressurized, pulsed saline solution to irrigate wounds and remove dying tissue.
  • Sharp debridement – Your provider uses a sharp tool to remove dying tissue around a wound to expose healthy tissue and support healing.
  • Ultrasound – Ultrasound waves heat the affected area to speed healing.
  • Wound VAC (vacuum-assisted closure) – Wound VAC is a negative pressure wound therapy that removes fluid, stimulates tissue and reduces bacteria.
