About Seiji B. Shibata, MD, PhD
Seiji B. Shibata, MD, PhD, specializes in chronic ear disease,
otosclerosis, cochlear implantation, vestibular disorders, facial
nerve disorders, and skull base tumors including acoustic
neuromas, meningiomas, and glomus tumors.
Dr. Shibata graduated from Kansai Medical University in Osaka
Japan, where he earned both his medical doctorate and PhD.
He completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck
Surgery at Kansai Medical University Hospitals in Osaka Japan.
Dr. Shibata then pursued further training in the United States
and completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and
Neck Surgery and his surgical fellowship in Neurotology at the
world-renowned University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Shibata has conducted cutting-edge inner ear research
at both the University of Michigan and the University of Iowa.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and
textbook chapters in his field. He is a board-certified member
of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and
Neck Surgery and the Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of
Japan. Dr. Shibata is a physician-scientist who strives to offer
high quality, compassionate care to patients in his clinic while
pursuing scientific advancements in his laboratory.
