Jennifer Y. Chen, MD

Jennifer Y Chen, MD, is a surgeon specializing in trauma and acute care surgery and surgical critical care.

Dr. Chen received her MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, then served a general surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. During her residency, Dr. Chen was intrigued by the challenge of taking care of patients in the most serious condition, so she went on to complete a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of North Carolina.

After spending several years working as a surgeon and educator in Pennsylvania, Dr. Chen joined Keck Medicine of USC in 2025. Dr. Chen enjoys the variety and teamwork of trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care, and has a deep fondness for working with surgical residents. She considers supporting the next generation of surgeons as they find their footing to be a key part of her mission.

Dr. Chen is board certified in general surgery and in surgical critical care. In 2003, she was named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly. 

Dr. Chen is a native of Arcadia and is glad to be able to give back to her community with her surgical practice. When she’s not in surgery, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with her family.
