Keck Medicine of USC Opioid Stewardship

Driven by efforts to fight the national opioid crisis, Keck Medicine of USC launched a multidisciplinary Opioid Stewardship Committee (OSC) in November of 2022. The OSC, led by Dr. Michael Bottros, Chief Clinical Operations and Medical Director for Pain Services at the Keck Medicine of USC Department of Anesthesiology, is charged with ensuring safe and effective opioid prescribing throughout the medical center.

The Keck Medicine of USC Opioid Safety page educates patients by outlining safe opioid prescribing practices, promoting responsible usage, and highlighting tools like naloxone and drug take-back programs. Through its Opioid Stewardship Committee, it offers guidance and resources to help patients manage pain while reducing the risk of misuse or dependence.
