Surgery is just the first step in the process — your device needs to be turned on and programmed, and you need to learn how to use it. 

After your ear has a few weeks to heal, you’ll work with an audiologist (hearing specialist) to program the device and a speech-language pathologist to learn how to interpret the sounds.
