Dr. Sang-Hoon Ahn was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1994. He then was trained in Family Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital and Cancer Prevention fellowship at National Cancer Center in Korea. He developed interest in cancer during his training at the National Cancer Center.
He moved to the U.S. in 2002. He had residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Hematology Oncology at University of Arizona. He worked as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona specializing in gastrointestinal cancers and Phase I clinical trial programs.
After the move to California, he established LA Cancer Center in 2011 in the heart of Koreatown in Los Angeles providing the much needed 'one-stop' cancer care with medical oncology and radiation oncology services to the community. Throughout his career, he has been principal investigator of multiple clinical trials to help bring new cancer drugs to the field of oncology.
Dr. Ahn was always deeply interested in providing easier access to the most up-to-date cancer treatments for the patients in the community. In order to better realize this lifelong goal, he joined the Keck Medicine of USC as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in 2018. He is excited to be able to deliver his patients the cutting-edge cancer treatment in a culturally sensitive and supportive environment through the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center
